A Great Game!

In a heartwarming and historic moment, our senior football team took to the pitch for their first match of the year — and for many of the players, their first ever competitive game.
The match, held at Haverhill Rovers earlier this term, was more than just a sporting event. It was a celebration of perseverance and teamwork from players of both Broadlands Hall and Churchill School.
The Broadlands Hall boys were delighted with their new school colors, wearing them with pride, and showed incredible determination and sportsmanship throughout the game. The match ended in favour of the opposition, but the scoreline was secondary to the sense of achievement felt by everyone involved. For many of the players, this was their first time experiencing the thrill of competition, the camaraderie of a team.
Headteacher, Mr James-Roll expressed immense pride in the team:
“Today wasn’t just about football — it was about showing what our students are capable of when given the chance. They’ve trained hard, supported each other, and today they made history.”
Plans are already underway for more fixtures, with hopes of forming a regional competition to give more students the chance to shine on the pitch.
As the final whistle blew, the players left the field not just as athletes, but as trailblazers — proving that with the right support and belief, every child can have their moment in the spotlight.
