LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT
Due to the opening of our new Education Centre, we are looking for two Learning Support Assistants who would like to be a part of an exciting and creative school near Haverhill for young people with autism and/or social, emotional and mental health needs.
Due to rapid expansion and because of our huge successes with our young people, we are now looking for two inspirational Learning Support Assistants to join our fantastic team.
The Role
Our young people all receive bespoke, one-to-one teaching and support and the staff are dedicated to reaching every students potential. This includes preparing them for life outside of our children’s homes with life skills such as preparation of meals, gardening and looking after themselves to taking GCSE and other appropriate examinations. The School is extremely well resourced and it is set beautiful grounds which gives the students further opportunities for outdoor learning. Broadlands Hall School is proud to be rated by Ofsted as Good with Outstanding features.
You will be responsible for supporting the teaching and learning with students, working under the guidance of a Lead Teacher, allowing young people to maximise their potential to progress. Our Learning Support Assistants will also have the ability to teach individual children when required.
Any previous experience of working with young people with a diagnosis of autism would obviously be an advantage but is not required and our current LSAs come from a range of experiences and backgrounds. Enthusiasm and commitment are as important as experience!
You will care passionately about each student as an individual, be able to observe and listen and then respond to advice. You will be non-judgmental, resilient and unconditionally accepting.
You will be confident and happy to work with children of any age or ability. Some of our students have communication difficulties associated with their diagnosis. They need support to make the most of their talents and abilities. Broadlands Hall School is well staffed and committed to the professional development of all.
The permanent post can be term-time only (Suffolk term dates) or there may be a possibility of full-time work which would include working in our Children’s Home during some of the School holidays. Ideally, some previous experience of working with children with special needs would be good but we would consider somebody with the drive, resilience, patience and determination necessary to this post.
The salary for the post is £20,027.52 – £29,583.36 per annum working term-time only with opportunities to also work during the School holidays if desired for enhanced pay.
